VSP APRIL-AUGUST NET PROFIT RS. 55 CRORE

Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd., a public sector undertaking of the Steel Ministry has recorded sales of Rs. 1,670 crore and a net profit of Rs. 55 crore during April to August, 2002-03.

VSP has produced 1.60 million tonnes (mt) of hot metal, 1.37 mt of liquid steel and 1.22 mt of saleable steel during these five month, an increase of 26 per cent, 20 per cent and 15 per cent respectively over the corresponding period last year.

The company has posted revenues of Rs. 345 crore during August 2002 registering a growth of 29 per cent over the same month last year.
