FUNDS RELEASED TO ASSAM FOR RURAL HOUSING

The Ministry of Rural Development has released an amount of Rs.252.46 lakh to Golaghat district of Assam under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY). This is the first instalment of central assistance for implementation of the IAY for the year 2002-03.

The grant is towards the plan expenditure and will be utilized for construction of new houses and upgradation of kutcha houses into pucca houses. The expenditure on the implementation of the programme is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the State respectively. The State Government should release its share within a month of the date of release of the Central assistance. The State Government has been advised to submit the proposal for release of next instalment after utilizing 60% of the available resources.
