DSP COMMISSIONS MODERNISED BLAST FURNACE 3


Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) of the Steel Authority if India Ltd (SAIL) has recently commissioned the upgraded blast furnace 3 which was modernized at a cost of rs. 205 crore. The furnace has the potential to produce more than 6,000 tonnes of hot metal per day. The commissioning of the blast furnace has brightened the prospects of the plant to earn more profit.

Some of the important state-of-the-art technologies incorporated during the upgradation process are twin tap hole, rocking runner on both hot metal and slab side, stave coolers, new control system in stove and conveyorisation of stock house. The volume of the furnace has also been increased from 1323 cu.m. to 1400 cu.m.
