RAIL FREIGHT TRAFFIC IN SEPTEMBER 2002
During September
2002, the Railways transported 40.41 Million Tonnes (MT) of revenue
earning goods which was 0.06 million tonnes more than the target.
This was also 1.36 million tonnes more than the goods transported
during the same period last year.
In September, 2002
the Railways transported 18.25 MT of Coal, 3.29 MT of Raw Materials,
1.00 MT of Iron & Steel, 1.25 MT of Iron Ore for Export. 3.35
MT of Cement, 3.83 MT of foodgrains, 2.33 MT of Fertilizers and
2.70 MT of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant (P.O.L.) and 4.41 MT of
other goods.
The Railways’ freight
traffic earnings during September, 2002 were a total of Rs.2104.75
crores. Out of this Rs.890.74 crores were from Coal, Rs. 93.46
crores from Raw Material, Rs.100.08 crore from Iron and Steel,
Rs. 48.11 crores were from iron-ore for export, Rs. 154.95 from
Cement, Rs.281.16 crores from Foodgrains, Rs. 115.79 crores from
Fertilizers, Rs.201.57 crores from P.O.L and Rs.218.89 crores
were from other goods.
