INDIA TO BE THE HUB FOR ANIMATION PRODUCTION

India has the potential to dominate the world market in the field of cartoon films production. Inaugurating an 'Interaction on the Animation Films Production', organised at the IFFI-Film Bazaar, last evening, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Smt. Sushma Swaraj said that the potential has to be exploited properly and the Government will play the role of an active facilitator in this regard. She said, we have an umpteen number of characters like Ganesh, Hanuman and Panchtantra stories in our mythology and history, which can be used in the making of animation films for marketing throughout the world.

Participating in the interaction the members of the newly formed Animation Film Producers Association of India emphasised that the digital visualisation of film production has completely revolutionised the production and there was no end to creativity. They said animation travels internationally and breaks the barriers of language. This provides great opportunities to the artists and clean pollution free jobs to technicians and software people. India is the perfect destination for animation film production with its large software manpower, cost effectivity and knowledge of English language. Only thing they said was the lack of proper organisation. They hoped the initiative taken by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the shape of Film Bazaar at IFFI this year would go a long way to popularise and market exploitation by the animation industry.
