FOODGRAINS TO RAJASTHAN

Seven lakh tonnes of wheat has so far been allocated to the State Government of Rajasthan for the current drought (2002-03) under the Special Component of Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana. This does not include the normal allocations of foodgrains to the State Government, under TPDS and other Welfare Schemes.

In addition, two lakh tonnes of foodgrains were distributed in 32 districts of the state under the special component of SGRY.

As on October 31, 2002, a total stock to the tune of 8.31 lakh tonnes of foodgrains was available with FCI in the State of Rajasthan.

This information was given in the Lok Sabha today by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Shri V. Sreenivasa Prasad in reply to a question of Shri Girdhari Lal Bhargava.
