NATIONAL JUDICIAL COMMISSION

LOK SABHA

The attention of the Government has been drawn to a report in a section of the Press that the Chief Justice of India does not reportedly see any need for a National Judicial Commission, as, in his view, the present system of Collegium has worked well. The Government is committed to setting up of a National Judicial Commission, which would make recommendations for appointment of Judges/Chief Justices of High Courts and the Supreme Court, as also draw up a Code of Ethics for Judges.

This information was given by the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri K. Jana Krishnamurthi in a written reply to a question from Shri Naresh Puglia and Smt. Shyama Singh in the Lok Sabha today.
