PRIME MINISTER OF BELARUS GENNADIY V. NOVITSKY CALLED ON VICE PRESIDENT


Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat lauded the uncompromising stand of Belarus that terrorism is an international problem and that Belarus is with India in its fight against terrorism. The Prime Minister of Belarus also endorsed India’s stand on Kashmir. Mr. Gennadiy V. Novitsky said that it is a bilateral issue and should be sorted out with mutual cooperation and understanding.

Shri Shekhawat said that India is fighting on its own against terrorism. Vice President said that trade between the two countries is to the tune of 80 million dollars and India and Belarus should try hard to expand it. The mutual cooperation should also expand in the field of culture and parliamentary affairs.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Gennadiy V. Novitsky is on an official visit to India from 26-29 November 2002. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising of Minister of Industry, Chairman of the State Committee of Science and Technology, First Deputy Foreign Minister, senior officials, and media representatives. The year 2002 marks the 10th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Belarus.
