DISPOSAL OF WASTE

RAJYA SABHA

Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources is implementing the National programme for Energy Recovery from Urban and Industrial Wastes for promotion of projects based on various new technologies such as biomethanation, pyrolysis/gasification and combustion for processing and disposal of wastes. These technologies are based on bio-chemical and thermo-chemical processes.

Besides generation of power, application of waste-to-energy technologies helps in improving waste management by treating wastes and reducing their quantities for final disposal.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Non-Conventional energy Sources, Shri M. Kannappan in a written reply to a question by Shri Prasanta Chatterjee in the Rajya Sabha today.
