INSPECTION OF ONGOING PROJECTS


LOK SABHA

During the last three months, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation inspected eight of the Central projects on the monitor of the Ministry. To minimize delay in the implementation of projects:-

    1. review of projects on monthly as well as quarterly basis by the Government;
    2. in-depth critical review of the progress by the project authorities and the Administrative Ministries and follow up with the State Governments ( for acquisition of land, resolution of rehabilitation related issues, expediting forest clearances and provision of infrastructure facilities like water and power, ensuring law & ordre at project sites, etc.), consultants and other agencies concerned to minimize delays;
    3. setting up of an Empowered Committee in the administrative Ministries for resolution of problems;
    4. inter-ministerial coordination for resolving problems of inter-ministerial nature;
    5. making available matching funds annually, based on updated costs to expedite completion of the projects in the advanced stages of implementation; and
    6. reviews by the Cabinet Secretariat.
