INSPECTION
OF ONGOING PROJECTS
LOK SABHA
During the last three
months, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Statistics &
Programme Implementation inspected eight of the Central projects
on the monitor of the Ministry. To minimize delay in the implementation
of projects:-
- review of projects on monthly
as well as quarterly basis by the Government;
- in-depth critical review of
the progress by the project authorities and the Administrative
Ministries and follow up with the State Governments ( for
acquisition of land, resolution of rehabilitation related
issues, expediting forest clearances and provision of infrastructure
facilities like water and power, ensuring law & ordre
at project sites, etc.), consultants and other agencies concerned
to minimize delays;
- setting up of an Empowered Committee
in the administrative Ministries for resolution of problems;
- inter-ministerial coordination
for resolving problems of inter-ministerial nature;
- making available matching funds
annually, based on updated costs to expedite completion of
the projects in the advanced stages of implementation; and
- reviews by the Cabinet Secretariat.
This information
was given in Lok Sabha today by Minister of State for Statistics
& Programme Implementation shri Vijay Goel in a reply to a
question by Shri Ambareesha and Shri C. Sreenivasan.
