NITISH KUMAR INAUGURATES RAILWAY WOMEN'S
DAY FUNCTION
OUTSTANDING WOMEN EMPLOYEES
AWARDED
Railway Minister,
Shri Nitish Kumar has called uponthe members of Railway Women’s
Welfare Central Organisation (RWWCO) to step into new areas of
activities that will helpre security of women passengers and also
empower the women fraternity of Indian Railways. Addressing the
Women’s Day and the Annual Award giving function of RWWCO here
today, Shri Nitish Kumar said that the organization can play a
crucial role in launching an awareness campaign across the Zonal
Railways for ensuring security of passengers especially women
passengers. Praising the on going activities of RWWCO, the Minister
opined that like other similar organizations the women folk of
Railways should participate in AIDS Awareness campaign, education
of the less privileged sections of the society and overall empowerment
of women.
Giving away cash
awards and certificates for outstanding performance to 40 women
employees from different Zonal Railways, Shri Nitish Kumar said
that the women employees fraternity is second to none. The Minister
also presented Merit Certificates to children for their performance
in the All India Painting & drawing Competition and essay
competition.
Earlier addressing
the function the Ministers of State for Railways Shri Bandaru
Dattatraya and Shri A.K. Moorthy complemented the members of RWWCO
and said its service
benefit hundreds
of thousands of people from outside the railways as well.In his
welcome address theChairman Rilway Board, Shri I.I.M.S Rana opined
that the empowerment of railway women should be the main motto
of the organization and the ongoing activities of the organization
is indeed praise-worthy.
RWWCO is the apex
body of the chain of women’s welfare organizations of Indian Rilways
engaged in the task of welfare of railwaymen and their families
through various need-based socio-welfare activities. While the
primary concern of the organization is the welfare of railway
employees and their families, it has always risen to the call
of the society and the Nation. It is one of the fore-runner voluntary
organizations in the country today.
