LOK SABHA

No community in Koraput and Raygada districts of Orissa has been deleted from Schedule Tribe (ST) List.

A Bill, namely The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Second Amendment) Bill, 2002, which, inter-alia, includes the proposal to include 114 communities as synonyms/sub-tribes of 26 STs of Orissa has already been introduced in the Lok Sabha on 2.8.2002.

This information was given by the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram in a written reply to a question from Smt. Hema Gamang in the Lok Sabha today.
