RAILWAYS CONSTITUTES DISASTER MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Ministry of Railways has constituted a high-level five-member Committee to review the disaster management system. In addition to this, two multi-disciplinary Safety Teams comprising officers of Railway Board have also recently been constituted to undertake inspections of various Zonal Railways, as per the directions of the Chairman Railway Board.

The teams have already conducted inspections of Lucknow Division of Northern Railway and Jhansi Division of Central Railway. The inspection covered many items related to general maintenance of Track, Bridges, Stations, Yards, Running Room, Accident Relief Trains/Accident Relief Medical Equipment, Crew Booking Lobby, Level Crossings etc. Corrective action is being taken.

This information was given by Shri Bandaru Dattattraya, Minister of State for Railways in a written reply to a question by Shri B.Venkateshwarlu in the Lok Sabha today.
