CORRUPTION IN JUDICIARY

LOK SABHA

The Supreme Court has informed the Government following its consultation over the Chief Jusitce of India’s observations on judicial corruption. The court’s reply reads, "Statement of the Chief Justice of India is based on his perceptions which he has gathered from various sources of the publications at times in the newspapers. The Chief Justice of India has been trying to get even the minimum materials from the concerned Chief Justices of the High Courts in support of the allegations so that he can proceed with the In-house Procedure Inquiry which has been adopted by the Supreme Court as well as all the High Courts."

This information was given by the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri K. Jana Krishnamurthi in a written reply to a question from Dr. M.P. Jaiswal and Prof. Dukha Bhagat in the Lok Sabha today.
