COMPLETION OF PROJECTS BY BRO

The Border Road Organisation (BRO) executed road projects of 1574 Km, 1421 Km and 1271 Km during 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 respectively.

Presently, 301 roads of strategic importance measuring 13399 Kms and 67 agency roads measuring 7480 Kms are under construction. The work on these roads is in progress and is being executed as per approved works plan and allocation of funds.

Completion of each individual road depends upon flow of funds and the priority accorded to it by Army or sponsoring agency. However, most of the strategic roads of Army are planned for completion by 2007.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri Virendra Kumar in Lok Sabha today.
