FINISHED STEEL PRODUCTION SHOWS GROWTH

The production of finished steel in the country during 2001-2002 was 31.62 million tonnes. It was 30.32 million tonnes in 2000-01 and 28.46 million tonnes in 1999-2000.

The production of finished steel during April-October, 2002-2003 has been estimated at 18.10 million tonnes against 17.18 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year, showing an increase of 5.3 per cent.
