PURCHASE OF ADMIRAL GORSHKOV

An Inter-Governmental Agreement has been signed on October 04, 2000 with the Government of the Russian Federation which, inter-alia, provides for acquisition of ‘Admiral Gorshkov’, an aircraft carrier, from Russia and its refit and modernisation. Negotiations for procurement of Admiral Gorshkov are being held.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri Santosh Bagrodia in Rajya Sabha today.
