ACQUISITION OF FLIGHT SIMULATORS FOR TRAINING FIGHTER PILOTS

RAJYA SABHA

Indian Air Force is using MIG-21 Simulator, Jaguar Simulator, Mirage 2000 Simulator and Air Combat Simulator, to train its fighter pilots.

Simulators help in enhancing skill levels and in practicing emergencies and procedures in a safe environment and are complementary to but not equivalent to advanced jet trainers. Fighter jet simulators are being inducted from time to time.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri Harendra Singh Malik in Rajya Sabha today.
