HOTEL MANAGEMENT DIPLOMA TO OFFICERS OF INDIAN NAVY

Officers of Indian Navy completing training in Food Production and Food and Beverage Service at the Naval training establishment INS Hamla will henceforth be awarded Diploma in the specific trade by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi. An understanding to this effect was signed in New Delhi between the two organisations by Smt. Rashmi Verma, Additional Director General in the Ministry of Tourism and Commodore Paras Nath, Commanding officer, INS Hamla. Award of the Diploma will enrich these Officers of Indian Navy with national level certificate, which is widely recognised both within and outside the country. The arrangement, which is a step forward towards service to the country's defence forces, will also facilitate such qualified personnel getting gainfully absorbed after discharge form active service.

Under the arrangement, INS Hamla, the premier training establishment of the Indian Navy, will impart training in the two specified areas to selected Officers and Sailors as per the pattern and standards prescribed by the National Council. The structured 62 weeks in-service training will in phases span over fifteen years by when the trainee will reach rank of Petty Officer. In addition to in-house examination at six different stages that INS Hamla will conduct, National Council for Hotel Management will hold the qualifying examination for award of Diploma.
