AIR PATNA, BHOPAL AND DD BANGALORE, DELHI WIN PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING AWARDS


All India Radio, Patna’s presentation ‘Sankalp Jyoti Bapu’ and Doordarshan Kendra Bangalore’s ‘Janapada Jagtu Bapuhi’ have won the first prize in Gandhi Darshan category whereas All India Radio, Bhopal’s presentation ‘Apni Dhoop Apni Chhaon’ and Doordarshan Delhi’s ‘Bin Paani Sab Soon’ bagged the first prize in Lok Seva category of the broadcasting awards. The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Shri Ramesh Bais gave away the awards on the occasion of National Public Service Broadcasting Day function here last evening. The National Public Service Broadcasting Day is being celebrated every year to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s only visit to All India Radio on 12th November 1947 to address refugees from Pakistan, camped in Kurukshetra. The Public Service Broadcasting Awards are given every year to AIR and Doordarshan for their best public service presentation programmes during the year.

Congratulating the award winners, Shri Bais said that the best AIR and Doordarshan Kendras are not only winning the awards but also faith, love and encouragement of their listeners and viewers for their best presentations. He said that today, when we celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Broadcasting in India, there are 209 AIR stations catering the service to 98 per cent population of the country and the dream of Mahatma Gandhi will come true when it serves 100 percent of the population.
