Legal Services Day
will be observed all over the country on November 9, 2002. To
mark the occasion, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)
has reiterated its resolve to ensure Equal Justice to All under
the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.
In a message
to the people, the New Chief Justice of India, Shri Justice G.B.
Pattanaik, who is also Patron-in-Chief of the NALSA, has called
for making the deprived poor aware of the provision of free legal
aid services for them through nationwide awareness campaign by
NALSA, legal fraternity and State Level Legal Services Authorities.
The senior most judge of the Supreme Court of India, Shri Justice
V.N. Khare , in his capacity as Executive President of NALSA,
has reaffirmed the commitment of the judiciary to provide competent
and effective legal services to the people especially to the weaker
sections of the society. He has also called for accelerating the
process of organizing Lok Adalats to resolve various disputes
and cases amicably.
Legal Services
Day is celebrated all over the country on November 9, every year
at the apex by NALSA and at the states level by the State Legal
Services Authorities. To mark the occasion, various meetings are
held between the Bar and the Bench wherein the commitment and
abiding faith in adjudicating disputes and settling cases through
the prevailing scheme of legal aid services to the Poor are being
reiterated with a renewed vigour and commitment at the grassroots
level.
