INDO BANGLADESH ARMY RIVER RAFTING EXPEDITION


The second joint Indo-Bangladesh Army river rafting expedition was flagged off by Chief Minister of Uttranchal, Shri ND Tiwari at Dehradun yesterday. Being conducted by the Army Adventure Wing, the expedition will cover a distance of 150kms in the Ganges from Karanaprayag to Rishikesh beginning on the 11th of this month.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri ND Tiwari said that organising such joint expeditions would strengthen bilateral relations and also enhance social harmony and co-operation between India and Bangladesh.

The team comprises 38 Indian and 09 Bangladesh Army personnel. The expedition will be led by Lt Col GS Mungali and Maj Mizanur Rehman of Bangladesh is the deputy leader.

The aim of the expedition is to promote co-operation, strengthen the bilateral relations and reinforce existing socio-cultural relations. The success of the expedition is expected to encourage adventure sports and eco-tourism in Uttranchal.

The team has undergone training at Army White Water Adventure Sports Nodal Centre at Raiwala and is now fully geared to negotiate challenging rapids of the Ganges.
