MUSTARD PROCUREMENT IN RAJASTHAN TO EXCEED TARGET

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Ashok Gahlot called on the Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Ajit Singh here today and urged for payment by NAFED (National Agriculture Federation), Rajasthan Agriculture Federation (RAJAFED) for procurement of mustard in the state. He informed that Rajasthan Federation had already procured 2.2 lakh tons mustard and due to want of money is not in a position to buy further. Shri Ajit Singh said that Union Agriculture Ministry will approach National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for giving advance money, which can immediately be utilised for procurement. Later after the release of money by RBI, this money would be adjusted. Procurement target for the state during the season which begun a month back, has been kept at 3.5 lakh tons but it is expected to surpass the target and be around 5-5.5 lakh tons.
