ANLYSIS FEE OF IMPORTED FOOD SAMPLES IN CFL INCREASED


Government has amended certain provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules, 1995 regarding the jurisdiction of the Central Food Laboratories, the analysis fee prescribed for imported food samples in the Central Food Laboratories and restriction on advertisement of food which is misleading or contravening the provision of PFA Act/Rules.

The changes in the present jurisdiction of Central Food Laboratories have been proposed keeping in view the work load and standards of the Laboratories and also due to creation of new States of Uttranchal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

It is also proposed to enhance the fee payable to Central Food Laboratories for analysis of samples of imported food from existing Rs. 1000/- per sample to Rs. 3000/- per sample due to higher operating costs.

Restriction on advertisement of any food which is misleading of contravening the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act or Rules thereunder has been extended to cover print, electronic media, internet and web-site also.
