AIR INDIA OBTAINS ADDITIONAL SLOTS AT HEATHROW


Shri Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Minister for Civil Aviation said in London that "India’s national carrier Air India plans to operate 14 flights to / through London Heathrow in the near future, increasing to 21 flights per week in the next 2 to 3 years. They will connect Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Kerala directly with UK and USA.

The Minister was on a his visit to London from 12th to 14th June, 2002. The visit is being viewed as a significant development in improving Indo-British Civil Aviation relations. During his visit, he called upon his counterpart, Transport Secretary, Mr. Alister Darling to emphasize the mutual advantage in bilateral negotiations in the field of civil aviation.

Air India has obtained from the U.K. authorities a pair of slots at Heathrow for an additional London terminator flight, Delhi-London-Delhi from the winter schedule, 2002.

Air India has also obtained six pairs of slots per week at CDG Paris, JFK and New York Airports for its three additional flights, India-USA over Paris scheduled for launch from 1st December, 2002. This flight will provide direct channel between USA and Cochin, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.
