TASKFORCE FOR EXPERTS SUGGESTIONS ON JPRGY


The taskforce on Jai Prakash Rozgar Gaurantee Yojana (JPRGY) has decided to invite suggestions from experts from all over the country in formulating foolproof guidelines for the new scheme. The third meeting of the taskforce on JPRGY was held under the chairmanship of the Union Minister for Rural Development Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, here today. Taskforce would be obtaining opinions of intellectuals and experts in various social and economic sectors. The taskforce with single tone said that it is necessary to take suggestions for the better launching and implementation of the new scheme. In this context, the taskforce has invited Shri Digvijay Singh, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh as special invitee, for the third meeting.

Shri Digvijay Singh has made suggestions based on successful implementation of the Rozgar Yojana in Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister emphasized on the need of checking the migrating population in the first stage. Based on available information of Drought Prone Area Programme (DPAP) and Dessert Development Programme (DDP) taskforce could identify the most distressed districts of the states, he added. Able persons in these areas should be provided with work at least for 150days in a year. He gave thrust on strengthening of Self-help Groups (SHGs) and Khadi Industries with broader outlook. The new scheme should address the distressed in terms of cash and food grains to feed themselves and to develop their own farmlands, which in long run can be productive, he emphasized.

In the earlier meeting of the taskforce, Sushree Uma Bharati, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister, offered full human resource support from National Reconstruction Corps (NRC) and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) for better implementation of the scheme.

Shri Ananth Kumar, Minister for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Shri Karia Munda, the Minister for Rural, Agro Industries and Shri Babasaheb Vikhe Patil, Minister of State for Finance participated in the meeting. Other members of the taskforce and senior officials from various Ministries were also present in the meeting.
