DR. MAHESH CHANDRA TAKES OVER AS VICE-CHAIRPERSON OF NYKS
Former member of Rajya
Sabha, Dr. Mahesh Chandra is the new Vice-Chairperson of the Nehru
Yuva Kendra Sanghatan (NYKS). He takes over from Sh. V Muraleedharan
who has been nominated as the Director General of the Sanghatan.
Dr. Sharma will hold this post for three years. Till recently
he was the chief whip of the BJP in Rajya Sabha and was represented
on several Parliamentary Committees including the Standing Committee
on External Affairs.
NYKS is an autonomous
organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It
has country’s largest network of youth volunteers and has been
active in national building activities eversince it was constituted
in 1972.
Dr. Sharma is an avid
scholar and writer and holds the unique distinction of working
relentlessly on the various aspects of Integral Humanism, the
philosophy propounded by the late Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Dr. Sharma has also been active in youth and student activities
and held various senior positions in the country’s largest student
organisation, the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
