REVIEW MEETINGS OF PSUS HELD
Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Heavy Industries
and Public Enterprises has assured full support and cooperation
of his ministry in the efforts by PSUs in restructuring their
operations in the emerging business environment. Shri Prabhu reviewed
the performance of Delhi and Kolkata based central PSUs under
his ministry. The meetings were held in Delhi and Kolkata and
were attended by the CMDs concerned. The companies highlighted
their performance and some of them referred to the order book
constraints faced by them. The issue of efficient and transparent
mechanism and monitoring the disposal of PSU assets to protect
public interest was also discussed in the meeting.
The Minister stressed the need for streamlining
the MoU system. He also agreed to take up the matter with the
concerned ministries in overcoming some of the problems highlighted
during the meeting. Detailed reviews of the various industrial
sectors including Auto sector, Capital Goods sector and the Paper
industry would be taken up soon.
