EXECUTION OF HAL PROJECTS

For better utilization of its skilled manpower and capital resources the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), has always been outsourcing part of its workload in low technology areas such as tooling and component manufacture.

As the two major projects of Sukhoi-30 MKI and Advanced Light Helicopter would considerably increase the workload in HAL, it has necessitated the increase of the quantum of outsourcing. The areas identified are tooling, ground support equipment, test stands, components and sub-assembly work packages. However major assemblies and building of aircraft and helicopters will be carried out only by HAL.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri RS Gavai in Rajya Sabha today.
