MINISTRY
TO RECEIVE APPLICATIONS FOR NEW MEDICAL COLLEGES FROM TOMORROW
The Government will receive
applications for the establishment of new Medical Colleges for
the academic session 2003-2004 from tomorrow i.e. 1st
August, 2002. As per the establishment of Medical College Regulations,
1999, applications for establishment new Medical Colleges shall
be received by the Central Government in the Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare between 1st August to 31st
August of each year for medical colleges proposed to be opened
during the next academic year.
As per the provisions
of the Act and Regulations made thereunder, the applications should
be submitted to the Central Government with all necessary documents
and also with the processing fee of Rs. 3.50 lakhs in form of
draft drawn in favour of MCI.
As for the opening of
a new or higher courses of study or training (including Post Graduate
courses of study or training) and increase of admission capacity
in any course of study or training (including the Post Graduate
course of study or training) regulations 2000, the same schedule
of dates as applicable under the establishment of Medical Colleges
Regulation, 1999 will apply in the case of increase of seats in
the MBBS course.
