Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Shri Shatrughan Sinha has expressed deep regret at the sudden demise of Shri Krishan Kant, Vice President of India. In his condolence message addressed to Smt. Suman Krishan Kant, wife of late Shri Krishan Kant he said:

"I am deeply shocked to hear the sad and sudden demise of our beloved and Hon’ble Vice President, Shri Krishan Kant Ji. His exemplary contribution in the freedom struggle shall serve as an everlasting source of inspiration for the younger generation of India. His untimely demise is a great personal loss for me.

He was the champion of the cause of the poor who fought all along his life against their exploitation and always tried for their emancipation. Being a Member of Rajya Sabha myself, I have personally felt the deep sense of commitment & dedication of Shri Krishna Kant Ji as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Not only did he carry out best traditions laid down in his esteemed office but also he initiated certain new traditions, which were appreciated by one and all. The country has lost one of the finest leaders of the present time. I pray to the Almighty, to give you and the members of your family the courage and strength to bear this irreparable loss.

May his soul rest in peace.

With profound regards."
