FUNDING OF RAILWAY PROJECTS
RAJYA SABHA
Indian Railways are currently holding discussions
with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for sanction of a loan of
US$ 300 million during the current financial year. The details
of projects to be funded are under finalisation.
The World Bank has recently approved a loan
of US$ 364.9 million for the rail components of the Mumbai Urban
Transport Project (MUTP) Phase-I. These works are expected to
be completed by December 2007, depending upon the availability
of funds.
