RAIL FREIGHT TRAFFIC IN JUNE
During June ,2002, the Railways transported 40.73
Million Tonnes (MT) of revenue earning goods. This was 1.47 million
tonnes more than the Goods transported during the same period
last year.
In June,2002 the Railways transported 18.07
MT of Coal, 3.01 MT of Raw Materials, 1.00 MT of Iron and Steel,
1.07 MT of Iron Ore for Export, 4.06 MT of Cement, 3.33 MT of
Foodgrains, 2.48 MT of Fertilizers and 3.15 MT of Petroleum, Oil
and Lubricant (P.O.L) and 4.56 MT of Other Goods .
The Railways' Freight Traffic earnings during
June,2002 were a total of Rs.2112.49 crores. Out of this Rs. 862.98
crores were from Coal, Rs.79.88 crores from Raw Material, Rs.102.42
crore from Iron and Steel, Rs. 43.12 crores were from Iron-ore
for Export, Rs.187.56 crores from Cement, Rs.228.53 crores from
Foodgrains, Rs.112.83 crores from Fertilizers, Rs. 254.42 crores
from P.O.L and Rs.240.75 crores were from Other Goods.
