RSP PIPES FOR NTPC, TALCHER


The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has recently executed a prestigious order of spiral-weld pipes worth Rs.14 crore for the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Talcher. The entire lot was dispatched by road much ahead of schedule. The 18 inch diameter pipe in IS-3589 grade will be used for transportation of water and slurry over a distance of 75 kms.

A major player among the country's pipe manufacturers, the SW pipe plant of RSP has bagged and processed a series of prestigious orders during the last one year. Some prominent orders are : 8628 tonnes of pipes for Petronet MHB, 1510 tonnes for L&T, 1500 tonnes for Technofab and 875 tonnes for the Haryana Urban Development Authority. Stringent testing, sophisticated quality control, close dimensional tolerance and customized products have resulted in enhanced customer satisfaction and a high level of acceptance of RSP's products.

RSP has also successfully produced 3810 tonnes of API X-60 grade plates valued at around Rs.7 crore for SAW Pipes Ltd., Agra. The plates will be used to manufacture pipes for the oil and gas sector.
