VSP'S HOT METAL PRODUCTION
UP 39 PER CENT
The hot metal production
in the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP), during the first quarter of this
year, has been 9.4 lakh tonnes registering a growth of 39 per
cent. The plant during these three months, has produced 8.1 lakh
tonnes of liquid steel and 7.2 lakh tonnes of saleable steel,
showing growth of 30 per cent and 16 per cent respectively over
the first quarter of 2001-02. The plant has achieved a sales turnover
of RS.949 crore, a growth of 6 per cent over the first quarter
of last year. These are the best first quarter performances since
inception.
During June 2002 VSP
produced 315,015 tonnes of hot metal, 270,997 tonnes of liquid
steel, 281,796 tonnes of saleable steel and 41,706 tonnes of value
added products which are the best June performance since inception.
The techno economics during the month include specific energy
consumption of 6.33 G.cal/tls and labour productivity of 246 t/man
year which are also the best indices for any June month since
inception. The sales turnover of Rs.361 crores in June' 02 with
a growth rate of 15 per cent over June'01 is also a record . Its
domestic and exports sales have registered growths of 10 per cent
and 76 per cent respectively over June' 01.
