INDIA'S
FOREIGN TRADE DATA FOR APRIL-MAY 2002-2003 - PRESS NOTE
India’s Exports during
April-May, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 7449.68 million which
is 10.46% higher than the level of US $ 6744.25 million during
April-May, 2001-2002. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs.36472.16
crore, which is 15.41% higher than the value of exports during
April-May, 2001-2002.
Exports during May, 2002-2003 are
valued at US $ 3768.79 million which is 3.85% higher than the
level of US $ 3629.24 million during May, 2001-2002. In rupee
terms, the exports were Rs. 18465.87 crore, which is 8.44% higher
than the value of exports during May, 2001-2002.
India’s Imports during April-May,
2002-2003 are valued at US $ 8444.62 million representing a decline
of 3.69% over the level of imports valued at US $ 8768.24 million
in April-May, 2001-2002.
Oil imports during April-May, 2002-2003
are valued at US $ 2487.87 million which is 6.79% lower than oil
imports valued at US $ 2669.05 million in the corresponding period
of last year. Non-oil imports during April-May,2002-2003 are estimated
at US $ 5956.75 million which is 2.34% lower than the level of
such imports valued at US $ 6099.19 million in April-May,2001-2002.
Imports during May, 2002-2003 are
valued at US $ 4405.82 million registering a decline of 5.74%
over the level of imports valued at US $ 4674.26 million in May,2001-2002.
In Rupee terms the imports decreased by 1.57%.
The trade deficit for April-May,
2002-2003 is estimated at US $ 994.94 million which is lower than
the deficit at US $ 2023.99 million during April-May, 2001-2002.
