H 1 PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS OF RINL


BACKGROUNDER

  • As per International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI), a World Steel body, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) a public sector undertaking of the Ministry of Steel has improved its position to 68th in the year 2002 from 72nd in 2000 amongst World Steel industry.
  • Hot Metal, Liquid Steel and Saleable Steel production in its Vizag Steel Plant during the first half of 2002-03 achieved 112 per cent, 110 per cent and 110 per cent of their rated capacities respectively.
  • Best first half yearly performance achieved since inception in respect of Sinter, Hot Metal, Liquid Steel, Billets, Light and Medium Merchant Mill(LMMM), Wire Rod Mill(WRM), Medium Merchant and Structural Mill(MMSM) products, saleable steel and value added products.

Best techno-economic indices for any Half 1 since inception

  • Specific Refractory consumption of 10.0 kg/Tls
  • Labour Productivity of 246 t/man-year
  • BF productivity of 1.68 kg/cum/day
  • Coke Rate of 519 kg/Thm
  • Sale turnover of Rs. 2032 crore. during the first half of 2002-03 is the best sales performance during first half of any year since inception.
  • Achieved a cash profit of Rs. 310 crore. and net profit of Rs. 74 crore. during the first half of 2002-03, the best half yearly performance since inception.
  • Peaceful industrial relation scenario maintained all through the period.
