The Indira Gandhi
Rajbhasha awards for outstanding achievements in implementing
the official language policy of the Government of India has been
announced. These awards are given every year for different categories
of Departments, Institutions and PSUs.
Ministries/Departments
have been placed in two categories for awarding these prizes.
The Ministries and Departments which have more than 300 employees
are placed in the first category. In this category the office
of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India has been selected
for the first prize. The Department of Food and Public Distribution
for second prize and the Ministry of Labour for third prize. The
Ministries and Departments which have less than 300 employees
are placed in second category. In this category the Ministry of
parliamentary Affairs secured the first position, the Department
of Small Industries, Agriculture and Rural Industry the second
prize and Department of Consumer Affairs, the third prize.
These Awards are
given separately for the region ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ to the public
Sector Undertakings situated in different parts of the country.
‘A’ Region includes states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Himachal
Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattishgarh, Rajasthan, U.P. and Uttranchal
and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Delhi.
‘B’ Region includes the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab
and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The rest of states and
Union Territories fall in Region ‘C’
For PSUs located
in Region ‘A’, the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited,
Noida has got the first award. The second award goes to the Engineers
India Limited, New Delhi and the third to the Gas Authority of
India Limited, New Delhi.
The Cotton Corporation
of India Limited, Mumbai, the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation
of India Limited, Mumbai and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation
Ltd., Mumbai have been adjudged first, second and third respectively
amongst the Public Sector Undertakings located in Region ‘B’.
In Region ‘C’, National
Mineral Development Corporation, Hyderabad won the first prize.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Banglore and Hindustan Steel Works
Construction Limited, Kolkata won the second and third prize respectively.
The Town Official
Language Implementation Committees are set up in major towns of
the country to promote the implementation of the Official Language
Policy of the Union and to find out solutions of the difficulties
being faced in its implementation. Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Awards
are also given to these committees for their excellent performance
in the field of implementation of Official Language Policy of
the Union. Among these Committees, the awards have gone to the
Committees of Lucknow (office) in Region ‘A’, Baroda (Bank) in
Region ‘B’ and Thiruvanthapuram (Bank) in region ‘C’.
First prize of
Rs.20,000/-, second prize of Rs.16,000/- and the third prize of
Rs.10,000/- are given for writing original books in Hindi. In
this category Shri V.S. Saksena has been awarded the first prize
for his book ‘paryavaran Parirakshan and Vaniki’ The second prize
goes to dr. Dalsingar Yadav and Shri Subart Das for their book
‘Payment System and Electronic Media’ and the third prize goes
to Dr. Satish Kaushish for his book ‘Bhed Palan and Prabandh’.
