The Ministry of Rural
Development has released Rs. 764.920 lakh under Indira Awaas Yojana
(IAY) for rural housing to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala and Assam.
Jalgaon district
of Maharashtra gets Rs. 279.805 lakh. Vadodara district of Gujarat
gets Rs. 102.66 lakh and Malappuram district of Kerala receives
Rs. 145.545 lakh as second installment and Karimganj district
of Assam gets Rs. 236.91 lakh as first installment for the year
2002-03.
The expenditure on
the implementation of the programme is to be shared on 75:25 basis
between the Centre and the State respectively. The grants are
towards the Plan expenditure and will be utilized for approved
items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the guidelines
under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY). The concerned State Governments
should release their share within one month of the date of release
of the Central assistance.
