The National Small
Industries Corporation (NSIC) has drawn up many schemes to promote,
aid and foster the growth of Small Scale Industries. To cater
to the new requirements of SSIs, new schemes are formulated from
time to time. Some of the new schemes drawn up by NSIC to enable
SSIs to be competitive in the globalized economy are ‘monitoring
Services’, Credit Rating of SSIs’ etc. Under the Integrated Infrastructural
Development (IID) Scheme, State Government/Union Territory is
required to formulate proposals for setting up IID Centres and
get these appraised by Small Industries Development Bank of India
(SIDBI).
The scheme of reimbursement
of ISO- 9000 Certification Expenses to Small Scale Industries
has been in since March, 1994. The scheme envisages reimbursement
of 75 per cent of expenses of acquiring ISO-9000 Certification
limited to Rs. 75,000/- in each case. The scheme has been extended
up to 31st March, 2007. Since the launching of the
scheme, 3049 small scale industries have been granted reimbursement
for an amount of Rs. 18.59 crores up to 31st October,
2002. During 10th Plan, an allocation of Rs. 40.50
crores has been proposed.
