Proposal were received
from the Government of Karnataka for financial assistance of 50%
by way of loan under Centrally Sponsored Scheme for development
of their six waterways system which included dredging, berthing
jetties and wharf, break waters, procurement of dredgers etc..
However, these proposals were only preliminary estimates of the
projects and also these were not prepared based on the guidelines
for Centrally Sponsored Schemes circulated by the Government.
Therefore, the Government of Karnataka has been requested to prepare
the proposals as per guidelines.
The above information
was given by Shri Su.Thirunavukkarasar, Minister of State for
Shipping in a written reply to a question by Shri K.B. Krishna
Murthy in Rajya Sabha today.
