NRDC TO COMMERCIALISE ENERGY EFFICIENT DEVICES
OF IOC
The
National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) is to commercialise
energy-efficient devices developed by the Research and Development
Centre of the Indian Oil Corporation. An agreement in this regard
has been signed between the two corporations for the promotion
and transfer of technologies to various industries for a new wide
variety of energy-efficient appliances. These appliances will
not only immensely benefit people in the rural and remote areas
but also defence personnel located at high altitudes and cold
climate areas.
The
new devices include, Nutan LPG Stoves and the smokeless Nutan
Himveer Bukhari Kerosene Stove. While the new LPG burner saves
15 percent of gas, the Nutan Bukhari helps save kerosene upto
25 percent.
It
is estimated that there are about 100 million kerosene-based lamps
of all types in the country consuming about 7,500 million ltrs
of kerosene per year. Considering a subsidy of Rs. 4 per ltr on
kerosene, the annual expenditure totals around Rs. 1000 crore
which can be reduced by more than 15 percent with the introduction
of these energy efficient devices . The masses will benefit from
reduced cost & pollution and enhanced efficiency.
