EXPORTS
OF READYMADE GARMENTS DURING JANUARY-JULY 2002
Exports of readymade garments to
Restricted Countries during January-July 2002 have amounted to
714.5 million Pcs valued at US$ 2497.7 million (Rs. 12175.50 crore).
Export of readymade garments to restricted countries increased
by 7.31% in terms of quantity and by 3.11% in terms of value (US$),
when compared to the same period of previous year.
Exports to USA, during January-July
2002 have amounted to 239.9 million pcs valued at US$ 1168.3 million
(Rs. 5696.71 crore). In comparison to Jan-July 2001, quantity
has increased by 28.91% and value (US$) by 3.24%.
Exports to E.U., during the period
under review have amounted to 433.0 million pcs valued at US$
1208.8 million (Rs. 5890.95 crore). When compared to the same
period of last year, there has been a decrease of 0.57% in quantity
while an increase of 5.37% in the terms of value (US$). In comparison
to the same period of previous year exports to Portugal, Spain,
Ireland, U.K., Denmark, France, Italy and Sweden show an increase
while export to other countries of European Union have shown a
decline. Garment export to Spain has shown the highest increase
of 54.48% in terms of value (US$). The overall export in terms
of value has increased whereas export in terms of quantities has
decreased.
Exports to Canada during January-July
2002 have registered a decrease of 5.88% in terms of quantity
and 16.02% in terms of value (US$) when compared to the same period
of previous year. During the period under review, Exports have
amounted to 41.6 million pcs valued at US$ 120.6 million (Rs.
587.84 crore).
GARMENT EXPORT PERFORMANCE DURING THE MONTH
OF JULY-2002
Exports of garment to restricted
countries during the month of July-2002 has been registered 93.6
million pcs valued at 379.0 million US$ (Rs. 1844.91 crore). However
during July 2001 it was 81.1 million pcs valued at 316.1 million
US$ (Rs. 1491.37 crore). This shows an increase of 15.41% in quantity
and 19.90% in terms of value when compared to July-2001.
When compared to the month of
July 2002, exports to USA have shown an increase of 51.32% in
terms of quantity and 22.08% in terms of value (US$). EU has shown
an increase of 3.45% in terms of quantity and 22.72% in terms
of value. Exports to Canada has shown decrease of 16.13% in terms
of quantity and 16.18% in terms of value during the month of July’2002.
GARMENT EXPORT PERFORMANCE DURING CURRENT
FINANCIAL YEAR (APRIL-JULY 2002-2003)
Exports of readymade
garments to Restricted countries during April-July 2002-2003 have
amounted to 376.6 million pcs valued at US$ 1393.0 million (Rs.
6807.84 crore). This represents an increase of 8.66% in terms
of quantity and 10.58% in terms of value, when compared to the
same period of previous financial year.
Exports to USA, during April-July’2002-2003,
have amounted to 143.3 million pcs valued at US$ 692.6 million
(Rs. 3385.14 crore). This represents an increase of 41.32% in
terms of quantity and 15.66% in terms of value, when compared
to April-July 2001-2002.
Exports of readymade garments
to E.U., during April-July’2002-2003 have amounted to 211.2 million
pcs valued at US$ 634.8 million (Rs. 3102.10 crore). In comparison
to the corresponding period of last financial year, there has
been a decrease of 3.83% in terms of quantity, while an increase
of 9.73% in terms of value.
Exports
to Canada during April-July 2002-03, have amounted to 22.1 million
pcs valued at US$ 65.6 million (Rs. 320.60 crore). There has been
decrease of 13.67% in terms of quantity and 20.39% in terms of
value, when compared to April-July 2001-2002.
The figures of exports to OBA
countries have not been taken into account due to non-availability
of data.
