PRELIMINARY ENQUIRY REPORT OF KANPUR-KASGANJ EXPRESS-BUS COLLISION
NEAR SAHAWAR TOWN RELEASED
Preliminary inquiry report pertaining to the
collision of 5301 UP Kanpur Central-Kasganj Express train with
a bus at manned Level Crossing gate situated between Sahawar Town
and Badhari Kalan Stations on Kapur-Kasganj single line (MG) section
of Izzatnagar Division of North Eastern Railway has been released.
The accident occurred on 4.6.02 at about 12.52 hrs.
Shri Bhupender Singh Commissioner of Railway
Safety, North Eastern Circle, Lucknow held a statutory inquiry
into the collision on 7th ,12th and 13th
June 2002.
According to the provisional
findings of the Commissioner, the accident occurred due to "failure
of railway staff".
As a result of this Railway accident,
49 persons died, all of whom were the bus passengers. Twenty Nine
persons were injured, 7 of them grievously injured and rest 22
had simple injuries. No train passenger was killed or grievously
injured or sustained any simple injury.
