The Department of Consumer
Affairs in the Ministry of consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution
reviewed the availability and price of onion in the country and
has recommended the release of the entire quota of seven lakh
tonnes of onion permitted for export during 2002-2003 with immediate
effect. Depending on the prevailing prices and availability of
onion, Department of Consumer Affairs will support further enhancement
of export quantity of onion.
