NEW PRESIDENT AND MEMBER FOR CONSUMER
COURTS
Justice Shri M.B.
Shah, Retired Judge of the Supreme Court has been appointed as
President of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission
(NCDRC). His appointment will be effective from the date he assumes
charge and upto September 24, 2008 the date on which he attains
the age of 70 years. Shri Shah succeeds Justice Shri D.P. Wadhwa
who has taken over charge as Chairperson of Telecom Disputes Settlement
and Appellate Tribunal.
The Government has
also appointed Justice Shri S.N. Kapoor, Retired Judge of Delhi
High Court as a whole time member of NCDRC with effect from the
date he assumes charge for a period of five years or upto the
age of 70 years which ever event occurs earlier.
