NON LEVY SUGAR QUOTAS FOR JULY - SEPTEMBER RELEASED

Government has released 10 lakh tonnes of non levy sugar for the month of July and 9.5 lakh tonnes each for August and September 2003 as quotas for indigenous sale in these three months.

During April-June 2003 the sugar factories which were governed by their court orders had not released non levy quota of sugar. Now, it has been decided to release the levy and non levy sugar quotas to such sugar factories also for July to September, 2003. The quota of non-levy sugar for the month of July, 2003 of these factories would be effective from today, June 24, 2003 provided they have not delivered/despatched sugar in the month of June, 2003 (till 23rd June). For others the quota will be effective from 1st July, 2003.

It has also been decided to set apart 80,000 MTs out of July 2003 quota of non levy sugar allotment to those factories who were governed by court orders but have not made delivery/despatches of sugar in the month of June 2003. This quantity will be released on pro-rata basis (equivalent to one week of June quota) after the receipt of documentary proof i.e. certificate from the Central Excise Authority concerned within 10 days from the date of announcement indicating that no quantity of non levy sugar has been delivered/despatched during the month of June 2003 i.e. till 23rd June, 2003.
