GOLCONDA EXPRESS DERAILS


THIRTEEN PEOPLE KILLED

Nine rail passengers and four road users lost their lives when the engine and four coaches of the 7201 - Guntur-Secunderabad Golconda Express derailed near Warangal station of Secunderabad Division this morning. Twentyfour injured passengers have been admitted to the MGM Hospital, Warangal.

Minister of state for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, Chairman Railway Board Shri R.K.Singh and other senior officials of Railway Board will be reaching the site by a special aircraft from Mumbai. The General Manager, South Central is monitoring the rescue and relief operation at the accident site. Medical relief van with doctors and other para medical staff has been rushed to the spot within half an hour of the accident and stranded passengers are being brought to Secunderabad by road.
