IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHEME FOR HANDLOOM
WEAVERS IN KARNATAKA
The Government had
released a sum of Rs. 480.65 lakh during 2001-02 and Rs. 498.57
lakh during 2002-03 to Karnataka for implementing the different
handloom sector schemes. The details of funds released are :

Under the scheme
for supply of yarn at Mill Gate price, the National handloom Development
Corporation had supplied yarn worth Rs. 1918.29 lakh during 2001-02
and Rs. 1502.73 lakh during 2002-03 to the handloom weavers and
their organizations in Karnataka.
Under the Decentralized
Training Programme, 4 training programmes were sanctioned during
2001-02 and 9 training programmes were sanctioned during 2002-03
for the skill up-gradation of handloom weavers in the State of
Karnataka.
This was stated by
the Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Basanagouda R. Patil,
in reply to a question by Shri K.B. Krishna Murthy in the Rajya
Sabha today.
