VSP SUSTAINS ITS GROWTH
Visakhapatnam Steel
Plant (VSP) of the Rastriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL), a public
sector undertaking of the Ministry of Steel has sustained its
growth by achieving an impressive performance during May 2002.
It has produced 331578 tonnes of hot metal, 283765 tonnes of liquid
steel and 245001 tonnes of saleable steel during the month, recording
a growth of 47 per cent, 34 per cent and 14 per cent respectively
over the same month last year. On the marketing from the PSU achieved
a sales turnover of Rs.320 crore during the month, best May turnover
since inception.
During the month the
plant produced 466608 tonnes of sinter, 266765 tonnes of cast
blooms, 161524 tonnes of billets, 65776 tonnes of bars, 73644
tonnes of wire rod mill products and 39009 tonnes of value added
products, which were the best ever May production. Blast Furnace-2
'KRISHNA' has surpassed its rated capacity of 1.7 million tonnes
within 329 days of its second campaign.
